Shaina Stewart is a Chicago-based artist working primarily in oil painting and ceramics. She received her BFA in Studio Painting from Berea College in Kentucky, where she also studied and taught ceramics. Her first solo exhibition, Remember Me, was presented in 2021.

After a period away from oil painting, Stewart has returned to the medium with an expanded approach to process and image-making. During this time, watercolor and ceramics sustained her practice and opened new avenues for experimentation. Her recent paintings move beyond portraiture into more intuitive, imagination-led territory, where color, form, and gesture emerge through the process of painting.
